The Society of Clandestine Conservators
This project was created in collaboration with peers as part of the annual Interior Design Charette at Florida State University. Instructions prompted us to create a secret society residing on campus. The Clandestine Conservators are chosen by the stray cats that roam campus. Those selected are welcomed into an underground structure and have to solve riddles to be allowed into layers below. The answer to the riddles are the four embodiments of the secret society: poise, wisdom, grace, and strength.
The final board shows the progression from the pathway into each layer of the society’s den. Users access the lair through a spiral staircase beneath an iconic sculpture. Each level gets progressively darker to symbolize the mysterious core of the secret society. Each floor also represents the society’s four tenets. For example the floor that represents wisdom is a library where information on the society and its functions are kept. Grace is represented by a lecture hall where members are educated on how to uphold the society’s values. The third floor, poise, is a computer lab where members can practice their craft. Cybersecurity is the focus of the organization. Finally, the fourth level is the dark server room housing the computers and technology for the society to function.
